By Bus or Rail

If you’re planning a cycling holiday, or plan to reach the Isle of Lewis by public transport, there are a number of options for reaching the island.

ScotRail operate trains as far as Mallaig (where you can catch the ferry to Armadale on Skye); Kyle of Lochalsh (for crossing to Skye via the bridge); Inverness or Garve (for onward cycling/coach to Ullapool).

CityLink operates a network of coaches from towns and cities all over Scotland to Ullapool and Uig (Isle of Skye) for direct connections to/from the CalMac ferries.

Trainline is a useful website, for looking up train and bus options, and for purchasing tickets.
